I’m a software engineer living in Adelaide, South Australia, and working at a Medical Devices company. Starting as the first employee I have witnessed the growth of the company from a startup with four people to the twenty plus that it has now. During the time I have worked on nearly the whole spectrum of software; including code for embedded micro-controllers, embedded systems, build systems, desktop applications, scripting, and even some web development with ruby-on-rails.

As for the programming languages I know it started with BASIC and batch files, progressing through C, C++ and Assembly in high school, and then Java, SQL, Scheme, and others at university. At work I was introduced to Ruby and have become a fan of the language, as well as doing a bit of C++/CLI development.

Just to note that this is my personal blog, and does not in any way reflect the attitudes or words of my employer. In fact I’d wager that my coworkers would strongly disagree with some of the statements presented here. Needless to say the usual disclaimers apply, so just use your brains and think.
